Victoria Adoptables Dog Rescue does not have a shelter. We are 100% non-profit and volunteer run. We take on stray and abandoned dogs, not owner surrenders.
We foster dogs in our own homes where they benefit from a caring, safe environment.
All funds from adoption fees or donations go to veterinarian costs and food for the dogs we take into our V.A. Dog Rescue care.
We try to find the best possible match for the dogs/pups we foster. As dogs are social animals we prefer to place them in homes where someone is there the majority of the day, will take them to work with them, or provide regular doggy daycare.
We are looking for homes where children are over 6 years of age. This is due to safety concerns for both dog and child.
The dogs we take into our care will benefit greatly from dog training classes. A trained dog is a happy and free dog. And a trained dog makes for a happy and free human.
There are many good trainers available and we ask that you check out the dog trainers in your area before applying.
Unfortunately, due to time constraints we cannot respond to everyone who applies and will contact those homes where we feel is a best match for the dog/pup.
At times, several people apply for the same dog/pup and applications are declined. This does NOT mean that any volunteer of Victoria Adoptables Dog Rescue is making a judgment about an applicant's ability to provide a good home for a dog.
We reserve the right to do a homevisit before adoption.
Our adoption fee: $450.00 for puppies and up to one year old.
Adult dogs are $350.00
Included in our adoption fee: first vet exam, 2 deflea and deworm, first and second vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchip for indentification. Victoria Adoptables uses the veterinary services of Saanichton Village Veterinary Hospital, Belmont Langford Vet, Broadmead Vet Clinic and Sooke Veterinary Hospital to care for the dogs that come into our rescue.
We are most appreciative of the expertise and compassion given by vets and staff.
Puppies require a tremendous amount of time and effort on your part.
Please read this before you complete an application:
-Puppies need to be fed three or four times a day.
-Puppies need to be house trained and will probably have "accidents" in your home. -Puppies may cry and keep you up at night.
-Puppies chew and they might just chew up your favourite chair.
-Puppies dig and they might just dig up your newly planted rose bush.
-Puppies jump up and scratch you or others with their sharp claws.
-Puppies nip and their sharp teeth hurt.
-Puppies need obedience training and they may still ignore you when you tell them "no".
-Puppies need you at home with them, so they can learn what love means.
-AND... puppies will grow into dogs!
