Lily & Marshall

Lily and Marshall are sibling of the Alpha-bits, 5 puppies who were recently adopted.

When Lily and Marshall were very young pups, they suffered a trauma resulting in a non-visual eye each. They were put into the care of Dr. Chris Forbes of Mill Bay Vet and each eye was removed surgically. Both pups are normal active pups who are very adjusted and take all in stride. Now they're looking for loving homes. Lily and Marshall's gardening day.

Lily

Breed: lab mix
Age:9 to 10 weeks approx.
Sex: spayed female as per contract

Hi, my name is Lily and I am a feisty little girl who is looking for a terrific family to love. I'm much braver than my brother Marshall, and always on the  lookout for some mischief to get into.

I had to have an eye removed recently but I see just fine and it doesn't bother me one bit. I play with my toys, rough and tumble with my brother and foster siblings, and generally get into big trouble all the time, just like any other puppy. I may look a little odd right now with my shaved spot, but as you can see, I am still a little cutie and the fur will grow back on my face in no time at all.

I'm a softie that loves people, especially when they play with me and give me cuddles and belly rubs. And I REALLY like falling asleep in their arms. I'm only about 9 weeks old but I am smart and know to come when I am called and I am already really good at using my puppy pads. Although I'm not housetrained yet, (I am still a baby after all) I sleep throughout the night and keep my crate clean and dry. I don't mind the cats that live here- they are interesting but I don't chase them.

So, now you know a bit about me, how about it? Wanna play?

Please read our Adoption Info before applying.

Marshall

Breed: lab mix
Age:10 weeks appox
Sex: neutered male as per contract

Hi, I'm Marshall, Lily's brother. I'm not as outgoing as my sister and can be a little shy at first until I get to know you, but once I do, I am a really affectionate and playful little guy. I have the mellow Labrador personality, and am happiest when I have someone to lean against while they pet me. I am very loving and playful and very easygoing.

I get along great with other dogs and cats, and like Lily, I come when I am called, sleep throughout the night and keep my crate dry and clean. I'm still working on the whole house-training thing, but it's early days and I already use the puppy pads pretty well.

They think I'm going to grow up to be fairly big because of the size of my feet, and I definitely have a lot of Labrador in me in both my handsome looks  (even if I do say so myself) and my gentle temperament. I too had to have an eye removed, but I see just fine and pretty soon you'll hardly notice once my fur grows back. It certainly doesn't slow me down, and I'm as active and playful as any other puppy.

If you are looking for a loyal, loving and mellow best friend, why don't you come and meet me 'cos that's what I'm looking for too, and we just might be made for each other!

Please read our Adoption Info before applying.

Gracey

Spayed female
One year old
Mexican Mix
30 lbs.

Gracey is an awesome dog. She is super affectionate with everyone, she is fine with cats, is housetrained, and is great and well mannered with children yet playful. Her one issue is that she reacts defensively towards larger dogs.  She will need a home that is willing to either work with her on that issue, or that is willing to accept her behaviour and avoid large dogs during walks and outings.  As you can see in the video she is fine with dogs she knows, especially if they are same or smaller size. She loves to ride in the car and will sit patiently on the passenger side. She is also crate and house trained.

Canti

Neutered male
10 months old
Mexican Mix

Canti is a lovely sweet and friendly boy suitable to a home with other dogs, children, but maybe not cats. Canti is probably a spaniel cross. He’s a bit of a sneaky guy so needs to be closely watched he doesn’t get out the gate. Canti walks well on leash. He is about 90 per cent house trained. Canti is crate trained. We are in desperate need of a foster home for Canti by May 9th. Can you help?

Bebop

Bebop has just arrived in Victoria and is looking for his forever home. We are a small rescue bringing in dogs from Los Angeles shelters. Bebop is very very sweet, playful, would do well with other dogs, seems to be okay with cats once he gets to know them. He is very gentle and his foster feels he would be okay with children over 8 years of age.

He is about 10 lbs and about 1 year old. Our adoption fee is $300 which covers all vaccinations, neuter, microchip and transport to Victoria. Contact us if you would like to know more about Bebop. info@howtofindapuppy.com

Brody

Brody- Is a 1 year old, neutered male chihuahua mix, long legged and about 8 lbs. He is very sweet and timid by nature but seems to be afraid of men and will try to protect himself from them. This would most likely get better with time and patience. He is good with other dogs but has not been tested with cats or children. He is high energy and likes to be picked up but not cuddled for any length of time before he wants down to run around. info@howtofindapuppy.com

Sophie

Sophia is a very sweet and submissive chihuahua cross. Tri coloured and  about two years old, 7 lbs. She seems to be housetrained so long as she is taken out regularly. She is a real snuggle bug and loves nothing more than to cuddle on your lap or under the blankets on the bed. She will sleep all night with you that way if you are so inclined. She seems good with all other dogs but has been untested with cats or children but her foster feels she would most likely be fine with both. info@howtofindapuppy.com

Mr. Big

Mr. Big- 2 year old, 8 lb, terrier mix.  He is sweet natured but wants to be an alpha and is food possessive which can be dealt with through training. Because of that he would not be a good match for small children. Because he has been recently neutered he is a bit territorial with the other recently neutered male he is being fostered with but he is great with all people and loves to snuggle and be a lap dog. He walks well on leash and seems to be housebroken so long as he is taken out on a regular basis. Cute!! info@howtofindapuppy.com

Shaggy

Shaggy is a 7 yr old, male Lhasa Apso, 17 lbs, whose owner developed health problems and was unable to keep him.

Shaggy bonds very quickly and is protective of his caregiver therefore a home where he can be an only dog would be best.

He is house trained and loves to be the 'special boy' in the household! If you are interested in Shaggy please contact us at info@howtofindapuppy.com.

Guiness

Guinness is a friendly, loveable, energetic 2 year old neutered male. He is medium to large size with a gorgeous coat that looks as if half of him was “dipped in brindle”. The best guess of his mix is hound/lab cross . As with most young dogs Guinness needs daily exercise. This could be a walk, jog or hike, (he is a great running partner) a good romp with other dogs or a few sessions of chasing a ball. He loves to swim and he LOVES to chase balls and sticks. He dissects tennis balls though so the rubber balls might be a better option for him.

Guinness gets along well with other dogs -he has a vocal play style. He “talks” to encourage other dogs to play with him. He seems comfortable with cats and farm animals. Guinness is currently being fostered in a multi- dog home on Galiano and is attending regular training sessions. He has learned: sit, down, “on your rug”, he is learning drop it, and recall. He settles quickly and when in the house tends to be a couch potato. He loves attention and snuggling. His leash walking is great with a halti (size 2 fits him).

Guinness is fully housetrained, healthy and up to date on his shots. We are looking for a family that will include him as a member of their family. As he is young and active and could knock over a young child he will be placed in an adult only or a home with older children. He likes his outdoor play time but his new family must allow him to live with them indoors. Guinness happily sleeps thru the night on his dog bed, does not go on furniture, and does not chew anything but his chew toys. Ideally he should have a fenced yard- he can jump a 4 ft wooden fence though. He is a very easy dog to have around and will make some lucky family a wonderful addition to their home.

If you are interested in welcoming this lovely dog into your life please contact

:
Bonnie Robson at 250 539 5398. Please help us find dear Guinness a loving furever family that he can call his own.

Widget

Widget comes to us as another throwaway dog from California. She and her sister were found running around Fresno and were fortunately found by one of our veterinary assistants. No one came forward to claim them so they find their way to us to find them a loving home. Widget is a young adult female Chihuahua. She is incredibly sweet although is a little nervous still but so loving and just wants nothing more than to trust someone. She is around a year old and weighs around 10lbs. I think young children might be overwhelming for Widget but older children would likely be fine. She would benefit from a quieter home perhaps and somewhere where she can feel safe. She walks well on leash and is crate trained.

Widget is spayed and fully vaccinated. She appears to be housetrained, although Chihuahuas often need vigilance to ensure compliance...

If you are able to provide a loving, forever home to Widget, please visit the Dog Bless Website

Pepper

Pepper is a lovely, active dog that would be very suitable for a family. She comes to us from a US shelter where she had remained unadopted. She's listed as a fox terrier mix but her heritage is truly a mystery.

Pepper is a young adult female. She's around 20lbs and is a fairly active girl. She would love a home with a runner or someone who is going to give her lots of exercise. Pepper is a sweet dog and is very trainable. She would benefit from a family manners class. She appears to be house and leash trained but she does pull a little on leash. Other than that she's a great all around dog.

Pepper is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.

For more information please visit the Dog Bless website.

Bob Barker

Bob is an adorable little 9lb Chihuahua fellow who found himself in an Alabama shelter. He is a most delightful and comical wee man with a great personality. Bob is around 2-3 years old and would be a wonderful companion for an active senior. Like many Chihuahuas he can be a tad vocal but this has improved since he's been out of a shelter environment.

He seems to love everyone and is a happy healthy boy. He's just looking for his forever home. Bob is neutered and up to date on his shots.

Nina

Breed:  Yellow Lab mix
Sex: Spayed female
Age: 2 - 3 years
Weight: 37 lbs

Nina is eager to please and extremely intelligent. This girl also knows how to adapt to her environment. Her foster parents have bells hanging from their door to their backyard. Nina quickly learned that if she noses the bells to make them sound, the humans in the house would immediately come to let her out into the backyard. Smarty pants!  Currently Nina and her foster dad are participating in a beginner obedience class, and Nina is the shining star of the whole group. Everyone is amazed at how quickly she seems to pick up new commands like sit, down, stay, front, etc. Nina can get really excited if she thinks it is feeding time or if he thinks that she is going somewhere. Her foster parents are working teaching her not to jump up on them when she gets excited. Thankfully, Nina is easy to correct. She does not like to be verbally scolded and quickly corrects herself.

Nina is very comfortable at home with her pack mates (two and four legged), but she sometimes get a little nervous around a bunch of new people. Also, she is so anxious to meet new dogs that she can sometimes forget her doggy manners and it might seem to another dog that she is invading their personal space. Sometimes this behavior can elicit a growl or snarl from the offended canine. The opposite can also be true. Nina’s other favourite activities include playing with toys, chewing antlers and being petted. She absolutely loves to be scratched and petted! Sometimes she can be a little needy, but not demanding.

Nina sleeps in a crate at night. For naps, she prefers to be at your feet or to tuck her head under something, such as a piece of furniture, ottoman or bed. Usually it is just her head that she tucks. If given the chance, she would gladly snooze on a sofa or bed with her two legged pack mates.

Nina is a Mosaic Rescue dog. For more information about her, Mosaic Rescue and the adoption process go to www.mosaicrescue.ca  or click on the banner below.

Della

Breed: Australian Cattle dog/shepherd mix?
Sex: Spayed female
Age: 2 years
Weight: 25 lbs.

Della's foster mom says "she is the sweetest girl, a little shy and unsure of people at first but once she gets comfortable with you she's a playful, energetic sweet girl. Not hyper at all just lots of energy. She is such a love bug, loves to cuddle and snuggle. She will lay in my lap if allowed to get all the attention she can but happily sleeps in a crate at night."

Della stays close to her mom often sitting at her feet and looking up, for direction perhaps? She chased a rabbit that dared to come into the yard recently but returned when called. Now that's impressive!

This special girl is looking for her forever home where she will be able to hang out with her human(s) most of the time and be an integral part of their family. She may be a bit shy and unsure at first but we know that she will thrive in a caring environment and be just about the most loyal and loving dog you could ask for.

Della is a Mosaic Rescue dog.  For more information about her, Mosaic Rescue and the adoption process go to www.mosaicrescue.ca or click on the banner below

Ginger

Ginger is a young adult Dachshund who found her way into an Alabama shelter.  She was returned to the shelter because she is possessive about food and toys.  She gets along fine with other dogs but just not around food and toys so she will need to be an only dog.  Ginger is a little nervous, likely because she hasn’t been well treated but she is a dear, sweet little thing.  She just needs some confidence building.  Ginger would be best placed in an adult home with someone who is around much of the day.  An active retiree would be perfect!

Migo

Male, Neutered
1 year, 7 months (as of April 2012)
About 30-35 pounds
Formosan Mountain Dog (or in Migo's case, lab x whippet type)

Get application process information here: www.OceanDogRescue.org

Adoption fee: $500

Includes: transportation, Crate, Leash/Collar, ID Tag / Microchip, Fully
vaccinated, Medical records including x-rays.

Meet Migo. He will be equally happy to meet you. Migo is a super social,
affectionate, totally goofy boy who thrives on attention. He is like a
lab, but in a 35 pound, skinnier package. He is excellent with other dogs,
although a tad too playful for some -he's like a full-sized puppy really.
He does amazingly at dog daycare, and with some training, would do really
well at off-leash dog parks as well. As friendly as Migo is with dogs,
he's just as friendly with people. He thinks everyone wants to be his best
friend forever.

Migo is learning loose leash manners in his foster home, and doing very
well, although he is easily distracted. Everything is just so much fun! A
bit of a busy-body, Migo will thrive with a fair amount of exercise, a
commitment to training, and a family or person that like to do a fair
amount of laughing. If anything, Migo will definitely make you laugh.

Migo is crate-trained for night-time and is okay left for 4-5 hours crated
during the day. He has no seperation anxiety when he's crated at home by
himself. Migo is housetrained with consistent routine and monitoring, but
his family should expect a few accidents.

Honey B is adopted

Breed: Chi/terrier mix
Age: 3 to 4 years
Sex: spayed female

Steve Huxter, behaviourist bio:

I was visiting with another dog in Honey Bee’s foster home when I first met her. On hearing that she’d been in foster care for months I was mystified. How could this marvelous little dog not have warmed someone’s heart because she endeared herself to me within minutes of meeting her.

Honey B can be a little on the timid side but for the most part she is an outgoing and wonderfully affectionate little dog.  She a very quiet little girl and has only been heard to bark once or twice and doesn't even bark when someone comes to the door.  She really loves sleeping in her kennel at night and loves to burrow under the blankets.  During the day if she gets a chill, Honey B will find the nearest blanket or pillow to burrow under and sleep.

Though shy when she first came into foster care, Honey B has gained lots of confidence and to continue her improvement I recommend that she would do best in a relaxed home with youngsters over 14 years.  She loves to be around people and would do very well in a home with canine companionship or a dog friendly cat.  Honey loves to play with other dogs, although she can be a little unsure about dogs bigger than her, but once she is familiar, she is fine.

Honey B enjoys going for car rides and more often she will simply lay down on the seat and go to sleep.  Grooming her is a breeze, she doesn’t mind having her nails clipped and she's a dream to bathe. Honey is house trained and like most dogs you can tell when she needs to go, as she will start sniffing around.

It is my habit to offer my support to adopters of dogs that I have assessed for adoption but in this case there is no need of my support!

Honey B is a darling little Chihuahua and I suspect that within fifteen minute of meeting her, she will endear herself to you, as quickly as she did to me.

Bravo

9-11 month old male ShepXHusky Mix

An active teenager looking for structure, excersise and to cuddle with when the first two points are taken care of. Would do best with a

have a well-behaved boy! Can you be Bravo's leader?

  90lb 4 year old pitt/dane/boxer mix
Lexi is a GREAT family dog! Lexi is looking for a new home as her family
is no longer in a position to keep her. She has lived with kids for the
last year. She is healthy, housetrained, gets along with both cats and
dogs although she prefers large dogs over the small ones. She is loving
and cuddly but has energy to burn and would benefit from lots of exercise
and play time. Lexi's bad habit is that she likes to get on the
furniture, but really, who wouldn't want a 90lb snuggle buddy?!
She is spayed and up to date on shots.
Check back soon for a foster update on Lexi!

Energy Level: Med/High
Good with dogs: Big dogs, small hit or miss

Celeste

1 year 2 month old formosan dog x whippet
  24 pounds

Celeste is the last of a litter of 5 siblings to come to Canada. Her
siblings Evee, Peanut and Wilbur have all found loving homes, and she, as
well as sister Jelly Bean are hoping to do the same.

Celeste is a shy girl that is hesitant around new people, but once she
bonds, she loves cuddling on the couch and going for walks. She is super
dog social, and has lived her life so far with a bigger pack, so looks to
other dogs for assurance. She would do well to have another dog or two in
her new home. Wouldn't it be so cool to be able to meet up with the other
silbings for play times too!

Energy Level: Medium
  Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes (though a bit scared of them)
Good with kids: Too nervous. She hides when things get too much for her,
and would probably hide around most children.

Zephyr

7 year old male Formosan Mountain dog x
50 pounds, though should be closer to 40.

Zephyr is a very affectionate, middle-aged man looking for a loyal,
loving, forever family. He has spent most of his life in a shelter in
Taiwan, and is very much enjoying the comforts of Canadian living. Zephyr
does well with other dogs, though doesn't enjoy puppy antics. He ignores
the barn cats, and doesn't seem to notice the chickens. He likes to lie at
your feet and go for walks --don't let his age fool you, he is more than
capable of going for an hour with you!-- But at the same time, he'd also
be happy to curl up and watch TV. Zephyr is housetrained and is
crate-trained for bed-time, although you might find him in there of his
own accord from time to time. Zephyr is an easy-peezy lovely addition to
most any home.

Energy level: Low-Medium
  Good with Dogs: Yes
  Good with Cats: Yes
Good with Children: Gentle Children. Probably would prefer no toddlers.

Eric

Breed: Feist
Sex: Neutered Male
Age: 3 years
Weight: 18 lbs.

Eric was rescued from a high kill shelter and subsequently fostered in a home with other dogs of various sizes and three cats. He's gotten along well with all of them even when vying for attention.

His foster mom says "the best word to describe Eric is fun, he is just a fun bouncy little guy. Very cuddly too, has to be touching me when I sleep. If I roll over or move away from him he promptly moves right back to where he can be touching me even if it's just laying his little head on me. :) He's such a sweetheart."

Eric is a happy little guy who is full of energy all the time. He sleeps then he wakes up at full speed. No in between, he's either on at full speed or off. He's learned to be gentle with young grandchildren but would likely prefer an adult oriented home where he can be part of the action.

While Eric is fine when left alone he really prefers to have human companionship. Eric loves to give and receive affection so if you are looking for an independent, aloof kind of dog, Eric is not for you. He will however be perfect for someone who wants a fun, loving
constant companion.

Eric is a Mosaic Rescue dog.  For more information about him, Mosaic Rescue and the adoption process go to www.mosaicrescue.ca or click on the banner below.

Honey

Name: Honey
Breed: Chihuahua X Corgi
Gender: Spayed Female
Age: 2 years

This little girl has TONS of personality and is looking for a home with an active family. She is a happy-go-lucky girl who wants nothing more than to play with her friends. She has a great sense of humor and likes to make you smile. Although Honey is spunky, she settles down well and is a great cuddler when it's time to relax.

Despite this girl's small size, Honey is a ball of energy and is always on the go; she can easily hike for hours. She is a real hunter and she loves to chase snakes, lizards, bugs & birds outside. Honey really enjoys learning and is very food motivated. Honey will be great for a person who is active and enjoys hiking, or who wants to partake in activities like agility competitions. It will be a requirement for whomever adopts her to enroll her in obedience training classes to help her get off on the right foot.

Honey's past is uncertain but she has some emotional scars that give us an idea of how she lived. She is more comfortable around women than men, and she shows some uncertainty around other dogs. She really enjoys the company of dogs that are submissive, low-key, or indifferent to her, but she can be uncomfortable around dogs that are assertive, bouncy, or dominant. Honey needs to go to a home with someone who has experience working with dogs that need to build confidence. Honey forms strong bonds very quickly and gets sad when she's left alone, therefore, she will be happiest with a family where someone is home for most of the day to spend time with her (perhaps someone who has recently retired, or who works from home) or where there is another dog to keep her company.  Honey is good around dog-savvy cats (indoors - she will chase them in they're outside) and
she's learning to be around children, although loud, energetic kids scare her.

If you'd like to learn more about Honey, please email us at victoriapets@gmail.com; she is currently in foster care.

Ashley

Ashley 2 year old female

Meet Ashley! The beautiful 3 yr old cocker girl! She is a sweet, energetic gal who so desperately wants to be loved. She is a little shy when first meeting new people but it doesn't take long before she wants to come in really close to you for some cuddles and give you her belly for a rub. Ashley can be a bit anxious at times but we feel once she is  settled into a routine and a loving home of her very own that she will become a much calmer dog.  She has greatly improved at walking on the leash but still pulls a bit. She is learning some basic commands and is crate trained. At this point, it appears Ashley needs to be the only dog in the home as she does not get along with other dogs. We are hoping to work with her in this area once we have her basic obedience down to see if we can work through this issue with her.  Are you the special adopter ready to give Ashley the home of her dreams and willing to work with her on her socialization? She is so worth it.

Ashley is an Angels Under Our Wings Cocker Rescue dog. Please click on their link to access website and contact info.

JinJin

Big eyed little JinJin was found as a small puppy with a rubberband deeply embedded in her neck,  badly damaging her ear. “How might this have happened?!” you are probably thinking. This is a common form of abuse in Taiwan and can also happen accidentally when banded lunch boxes are tossed out and hungry dogs go foraging for food getting the rubberband stuck around their necks. JinJin had to have surgery to remove the band and required ongoing treatment and second surgery here for infection and to repair her damaged ear. Her ear will require regular cleaning to avoid future ear infections, but no more than a breed like a Spaniel requires. Her scars are healing and are becoming less noticeable and the one lop ear just adds to her charm!
JinJin is quite popular wherever she goes. She is great with dogs, cats and kids. Foster update: " I forgot to mention that her house training progressed leaps and bounds too after the infection was dealt with and now she even asks to go outside :) She is also learning some commands and cute tricks (she does a great 'sit pretty'). Anyone who comes to meet her will absolutely fall in love with her! "
She’s had a rough year first 8 months... lets give her a wonderful future!
JinJin is spayed, microchipped and immunized, she is just 9 months old and 22lbs She has had a clear bill of health from the vet and is ready to find a new home for the holidays!! Oh and her breed??? well she is a  Taiwanese Formosan crossed with... who the heck knows :) Contact Island Dogz Rescue

Nova

Nova is a wonderful family dog that is the victim of a family split-up. He is all round well behaved nice lovable mutt (RottieXChow and a few others  mixed in there :) He likes everyone, young and old, is gentle and respectful. Loves to play and sleep and walk and go for car rides. He's great at the dog park we visited. He knows basic commands, but does pull some on the leash (a little work on that and he'll be great) I gave him a bone, and was able to easily take it from his mouth and he waited for permission to take it again. Super nice happy-go-lucky guy.

Nova is 4-5 years old, in good health and ready to fit easily into most homes situations

Keely

Meet Keely: A 35lb bundle of silly happy puppy energy :) Keely is a actually a Formosan mixed breed that was a stray on the street, but looks like an overgrown Jack Russell and has the same energy level. She is approx 11months old and full of fun and love as you can see from this video taken during play time at the shelter Kelly video . She is a very good natured dog with all people but needs to learn some boundaries when it comes to interacting with dogs that aren't so fond of her overly enthusiastic playfulness. With easy going dogs, she is great and LOVES to play!!. As house life is completely new to her, Keely is still somewhat jumpy and barking at strange sites and sounds...but daily she is settling into this new life in Canada. She is great with any and all handling, in fact the more she can get the better ;). Keely will need an active family as she is still very puppyish and needs a couple good walk/runs to use up all that energy in a positive way. She is very food motivated and eager to please so is learning how to behave nicely and will be an easily trained girl as long as you have patience for her. Jonah has had a tough year! On Jan 3, 2011 he was found by Terrace RCMP after being hit by a train! . Jonah was rushed by the officer to the local vet clinic in order to undergo immediate surgery. He had one eye that had popped out of its socket, one leg that was terribly damaged, a smashed mouth and a mangled tail. Jonah had his eye reinserted in the socket, had his upper front teeth removed and had a plate installed in order to hold his shattered femur together. Three days later he was good enough to go into foster care. Unfortunately that same day he slipped on the ice and it quickly became apparent that he had done some damage so it was back to the vet. Jonah had a larger plate set in place with longer screws to hold it secure; he had completely snapped one of the screws so it is stuck in his bone forever. He recovered quickly and returned to foster.......After some time it was clear that nothing slowed Jonah down and he was moved into a quieter foster home. After a few months Jonah returned to the vet again and had his plate removed and was sent home to yet again recover. Fast forward through months of recovery which the biggest challenge was keeping this guy quiet when he wanted to play! Now Jonah is none the worse for wear and is an energetic, happy dog. He does need some training to walk nicely on leash. As typical with huskies, Jonah also needs an escape proof yard as he likes to go exploring...he will dig his way out looking for fun if left alone in the yard (Which we don't recommend with any of our huskies..they want to be with their people and will get destructive or go searching for fun and company if left out alone) He has been fostered with toddlers and dog-savy cats and is good with other dogs. He is neutered and uptodate with shots. Contact: Island Dogz Rescue

Buffy

This is an update on Buffy who is coming along swimmingly, lol. She is now
going to K9Fit For Fun twice a week for her hydro-therapy to strengthen her back leg muscles. Her therapist Vanessa, is just delighted with her progress and her intense determination to please. Buffy knows when we're going to the pool and bounces up and down on her front legs as she can't wait to get to the car where she just curls up on the seat and snoozes. Her therapy at home consists of manipulating/stretching her back legs and she get's so
comfortable on my lap that sometimes she just fallls asleep, she loves the one on one attention and there is a lot of hand licking and deep sighing going on. What a love bug!!!  After all this time she is finally "rembering" how to stand on all four's and walk again but it's going to take a while
yet.

Buffy gets along well with my other 4 dog's and wears a diaper in the house. We are now working on potty training and we're off to a good start as she's making an effort to let me know when something's about to happen so I
can whip off the diaper and get her outside. She has learned to use the dog door so I have to get that diaper off fast, lol !!

Buffy loves to fetch and it's pretty funny watching her competing with everyone else. Sometimes getting traction is a problem for her as the floors are all laminate. She is now crate trained and has her food in there as well, as she was really defensive when she first arrived but is making good progress in that area now. She never snaps at a person if you try to take anything away from her but let's the other dog's know what's hers is hers, a work in progress.

Buffy has quite a personalilty and when she's fully recovered, she's going to make a wonderful addition to her forever home. For more info go to B.C. Poodle Rescue
