About Sunny...

Sunny came to the pound as a found stray early in March. He behaved and looked like a feral cat. Initially he was very fearful of people. Thanks to the help of Greater Victoria Animal Crusaders he had his broken teeth removed and we have had the pleasure of getting to know Sunny a little better. It turns out he is a very sweet sensitive boy that needs some time to overcome his experience as a stray cat. It seems as though he was on his own for some time. Sunny’s appetite for canned food and treats helped him to very quickly overcome his fear of whoever holds the food. He is still cautious around new people and needs a patient home that will allow him to build trust at his own pace. When you first meet Sunny he becomes defensive and will voice his displeasure with the situation. If you give him bribes though, it only takes a week or so and he will become your best friend. Sunny absolutely loves a gentle snuggle and a good cheek scratch will quickly replace the need for food bribes. Sunny sounds like a kitten when he meows and will chat away to someone he is familiar with. That said Sunny also has a sassy side and has shown us a little more of his personality each day. Sunny likes to play and he enjoys new experiences like being put on a cat post or carried into the office. He does become a little over stimulated when he “survives” one of his adventures or has too much cuddles and he will need a minute to relax or he will give a little nibble. Sunny finds jumping challenging and would prefer a home where he can keep his paws on the ground. For Sunny’s own safety he should be kept indoors only. He will need a good hiding spot and will do well in a quieter home at least at first. I don’t imagine he will spend much time hiding once he is comfortable and has built up trust with his new person(s). Living with Sunny is sure to be an experience he will win over your heart with his purrs and likely rule the roost once he figures out he is safe with you.
