About Prince Albert SPCA...

We operate the pound on behalf of the City. Any stray animals that are brought to our Shelter we legally hold for a 72 hour period, as per the Saskatchewan Animal Protection Act. However, we hold animals for 5 days to allow time for owners to track their animals to our shelter. The Prince Albert SPCA is a charitable organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the well-being of animals, sustained by volunteers and the community We affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every living being, and justice, equity, and compassion in human-animal relations. In support of our Mission and Purpose, we accept important mandates in the areas of animal care and welfare, shelter operation, education, and community service. In fulfilling our Mission, we define our objectives as being the following: To provide a range of services necessary to meet the needs of companion animals and to fulfill our mandate as the principal animal welfare center for the City of Prince Albert. To develop and maintain educational programs for school divisions, employees, volunteers and members of the community in animal-welfare related issues, and to fulfill our mandate as the principle humane education center for the City of Prince Albert. To promote a friendly, supportive environment within the Society, resulting in a sense of belonging and professional satisfaction, as well as excellence in all our programs and endeavors. We strive to provide leadership and support in the development of innovative animal care services and programs in conjunction with our affiliates in the Saskatchewan Federation of Humane Societies, with members of the veterinary profession, and with other groups, individuals and businesses in the City of Prince Albert linked by the common goal of outstanding animal care and welfare.
