About Jala...

We have found Jala a wonderful new home. Thank you to all for their interest. Say hello to beautiful adoptable Jala. (pronounced Hal-a). She is lab cross about 2.5 years old and weighs 18 kgs about 2.5 years. She is great with all dogs cats kids and loves people. She loves going for walks, the water and playing with her toys. Jala was rescued from under a bridge on a highway between Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara, Mexico where she was tied up and abandoned with 2 other dogs . She was brought to the shelter Puerto Vallarta (PV) and was treated for malnutrition, dehydration and she is a distemper survivor. She has been vaccinated and spayed and is very healthy now. She is in foster care in PV awaiting her "furever" home. She will arrive on Oct 17 in Victoria. If you would like to give this wonderful girl a home please email Or send us a message on our Facebook page: Dog For Life Our group, Dog For Life was born out of a few wonderful human beings who wanted to make a difference for the dogs at the municipal Acopio Animal Shelter. in Puerto Vallarta. We are a very small non-profit rescue group made up of people who love and have a passion for helping dogs and who work and live in Puerto Vallarta and Victoria as well as other parts of Canada and the USA. <break> Dog For Life differs from other, larger rescue groups in that we personally work with each dog in Mexico and are part of their entire journey from the shelter to a foster home in Puerto Vallarta to their “furever” homes in Canada. We take great care in ensuring they are healthy and well and placed in the best possible homes. Our usual process is to have you fill out an application form, we review and then if warranted we would meet you and do a home check to ensure the inside and outside environments are safe and suitable for the dog. Then if all checks out and the dog is the right fit for you and you are right for the dog, we have the applicant do a one week foster to adopt. To adopt one of our dogs is $450 – this fee helps to cover only some of the costs to get the dogs well – spay/neutered, vet care, medications, vaccinations and ready to travel.
